  HOME > ABOUT US

We work solely and exclusively with the clients of consultants and professional services firms.  We do not accept any assignments from other consulting firms.

At Consulting Intelligence we believe that every decision you make to work with an external consulting firm is an important opportunity to positively affect your organization.  We also believe that working with the "right" consultant can help you achieve near miraculous results.  But, with that opportunity comes the potential for significant risks.  The choice of the "wrong" consultant could result in serious cost overruns and even failed projects.

As specialized client side meta-consultants, we help our clients understand, anticipate, preclude and even resolve the many potential risks that are commonly associated with the use of external consultants.

We work exclusively with the corporate leadership and senior executives of organizations that want the best possible results from highly qualified external consultants -- either consultants they're thinking about hiring or those they're already working with.   (Often there are concerns about how the consultants the client has already engaged are performing.)

Because of our experience in independent verification and validation of consulting engagements and our expertise in resolving troubled consulting projects, we have been referred to as "the client's SWAT team."

We typically begin working with a potential client with a discussion and some potentially tough questions:

  • How confident are you that the consultanting firm you're about to work with is qualified for the tasks at hand?
  • Are you sure they'll work solely in your organization's best interest?
  • Do they have any other agenda?
  • How solid is their approach?
  • Do they truly believe in the concept of client-consultant cooperation?
  • How well will they perform?
  • Have they assigned the right resources?
  • What if serious problems with their performance or behavior develop mid-way through the project?
  • How do you evaluate consultants?
  • What policies and processes do you have in place to effectively monitor the engagement?

How well have you prepared your internal team to work with them?

While our primary concern is the mitigation of our clients' risk, our primary objective is always our clients' success.

We ask because we know that generally, the two main areas of concern for most organizations are their doubts about a consultant's competence or motives and their concerns about their own ability to effectively "manage" their consultants.  Our experience has shown us that in many cases, many organizations have reason to have those doubts and concerns.

As experienced and objective "consulting insiders" we can address those concerns -- and can expand organizations' options -- by providing them with direct access to our senior staff and our proprietary knowledgebase of client-centric best practices for dealing with external consultants.

Lastly, any question as to our objectives, allegiance or loyalty is easy for us to answer.

Our specialized practice is limited to helping organizations work effectively with external consultants and other professional services firms.  If, after a review of the facts, we feel that you are not being well served by a particular consulting firm, we will tell you.

As client side meta-consultants, we will never recommend that you use our firm in place of your current consultants.

Instead, if requested, we can help you locate, qualify and engage a different consulting firm; one that is qualified and that will work in your best interests.

Our only interest is in helping our clients get the best possible return on their consulting investments.  Period.
